Advisory and planning for IT and IP independence Plan

Synopsis

The client was looking to demerge its IT environment after the announcement of a new joint venture. As part of the demerger, the new environment was to be independent from its parent carrier. Coforge helped the client set up the new environment and exclude all assets and IPs before their TSA end date of 31st July 2020. The overall project was delivered and launched successfully two weeks prior to the proposed deadline.

About the client

The client is a leading North American regional airline serving more than 111 airports across the US, Cananda, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Turks, and Caicos Islands. The airline flies more than 3,300 weekly flights from bases in Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston and Newark, using Embraer ERJ145 and Bombardier CRJ200 jet aircraft. The company also operates maintenance bases in several locations across the US including Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Knoxville, Tennessee, Newark and Richmond.

Business Challenge

The project started in March 2019 as consultant to provide the roadmap for demerging their IT services from the main organization to support the new joint venture. The new environment were to exclude all assets and IPs (custom developed code) effective from 31st July 2020. To achieve this, the client required to retire, recreate or commercially procure new solutions.

Our Solution

Coforge started the demerge process in May 2019 which covered five distinct area of work:

Enterprise and web content management:

This area of the project included the analysis and development of xjt.com intranet portal, enterprise content management, and web content management. The discovery phase included consulting practices and menu grouping along with curated enterprise content as per the business need. The project included functional and non-functional testing of developed solution across all three browsers (IE, Edge and Chrome). The project also involved user interface design, UX improvements, verifying responsiveness of web pages and overall change management and program governance.

Application factory:

This stream of project included the analysis and development of new applications and technology solutions for Pilots, crew, safety, and maintenance and airport operations staff. These applications were categorized under windows apps, platform apps, complex apps and must-have applications. The responsive applications were developed using .Net, Angular, and SharePoint OOB capabilities. Application development also included their integration with Sabre Crewtrac, flitetrac, and Sabre Communication system and movement manager. Project included the verification and validation of overall solution to ensure defect free deployment. It includes user interface design, UX improvements, verifying responsiveness of web pages and overall change management and program governance.

Workflows and Data warehouse (DW) reports:

This stream of project included analysis and development of critical workflows and creation of enterprise data warehouse, data mart, SSRS reports and tableau reports. Coforge was responsible for building dashboard and reports that ranged from data sourcing to transforming in to user facing metrics. The project included the verification/validation of developed workflows and reports to ensure defect free deployment.

Application Warranty support and Maintenance: 

This stream of project involves supporting intranet portal, Enterprise and web content and all the applications that get developed under Enterprise and web Content management and Application factory stream. Coforge will be responsible for providing production support, change management/ incident management services of overall solution to ExpressJet users.

Documentation:

Overall functional specification, technical training and business user training and product demo was provided to the client.

The overall project got delivered two weeks before the agreed deadline of July 2nd week and went live successfully.
