A leading shopping membership club operating across Central America, Colombia, and the Caribbean, faced mounting pressure on its IT infrastructure as its retail and e-commerce operations grew. Inefficient release management, an aging Kubernetes infrastructure, error-prone deployments, and rising cloud costs were creating operational risk and constraining the organization's ability to innovate. They engaged Coforge to modernize cloud operations and build a delivery and infrastructure model that could support the business at scale.

The Challenge

For a retail membership club operating across multiple markets, the reliability of its e-commerce and retail systems directly affects member experience and operational continuity. Disruptions to deployments, degraded catalog performance, or unplanned downtime carry immediate commercial consequences.

Software release management was inefficient, with manual processes slowing delivery and introducing inconsistency across environments. The Kubernetes infrastructure was running on an outdated version, limiting scalability, security, and platform performance. Deployment processes lacked the safety mechanisms needed to minimize downtime during updates.

Cloud costs were rising without clear optimization controls in place. The organization needed a structured approach to serverless resource management, particularly for catalog functionality, to bring costs in line with actual consumption without compromising the member experience.

Our Approach

Coforge modernized The organization's cloud operations across release management, Kubernetes infrastructure, deployment safety, and serverless cost optimization, building a delivery model designed for reliability and efficiency.

Release Management and GitOps Delivery

Coforge migrated the organization's software release pipelines to a robust Jenkins installation and adopted a GitOps continuous delivery approach using Flux with Amazon EKS. This produced automated, secure, and reliable application deployments, improving delivery efficiency, and reducing manual intervention across the release process.

Kubernetes Infrastructure Upgrade

Coforge upgraded the organization's Kubernetes infrastructure to the latest version of Amazon EKS, materially improving scalability, security, and platform performance. The upgrade addressed the technical debt in the existing cluster and established a more stable foundation for ongoing development and operations.

Blue/Green Deployment Strategy

Coforge implemented advanced blue/green deployment strategies to reduce deployment risk and minimize service disruptions during updates. This approach ensured that new releases could be validated and rolled back safely, reducing deployment-related service disruptions.

Serverless Catalog Optimization and Cost Management

Coforge redesigned the organization's catalog functionality using AWS serverless technologies including Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Secrets Manager, S3, and SQS.
