FinTech Investment Platform Achieved 3x Scalability and Cut Security Incident Response by 60% on AWS

A FinTech platform serving investment advisors in wealth management institutions faced a set of compounding challenges as it prepared to scale. Prototype-era infrastructure was limiting platform reliability and product development velocity, while the financial sector's strict security, compliance, and identity management requirements placed additional pressure on an architecture that was not built to meet them. They engaged Coforge to modernize the technology stack and rebuild the platform to scale, meet compliance requirements, and enhance security.

The Challenge FinTech Investment Platform Achieved 3x Scalability and Cut Security Incident Response by 60% on AWS

The Challenge

For a FinTech platform serving wealth management institutions, platform reliability and regulatory compliance are not discretionary. Investment advisors depend on consistent access, and regulators demand auditability, least-privilege access controls, and proactive threat detection. The existing infrastructure could not meet these requirements.

Scalability constraints limited the platform's ability to grow its user base or absorb increased workload without manual intervention. Product development was slowed by ecosystem integration bottlenecks, and the prototype-era architecture created friction at every stage of the release cycle.

The financial sector's regulatory landscape required strict adherence to SOC 2, CIS benchmarks, and financial security best practices. The existing stack lacked automated compliance monitoring, real-time threat detection, and a structured identity and access management framework. These were not gaps that could be carried forward into a production-grade platform.

Our Approach

Coforge designed and implemented a secure, scalable, and compliant cloud-native platform on AWS, rebuilding the infrastructure, security posture, and deployment pipeline from the ground up.

Cloud-Native Microservices Architecture

Coforge transitioned the platform to a serverless microservices model using Amazon ECS with Fargate and RDS Aurora Serverless, enabling automatic scaling to meet workload demand without manual intervention. AWS CodePipeline and CloudFormation standardized deployments, producing a more secure, rapid, and repeatable release process.

Threat Detection and Security Automation

Coforge implemented AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and CloudTrail to monitor and detect security threats in real time. Amazon Inspector was enabled for vulnerability scanning across containerized workloads, and AWS EventBridge automated security notifications and orchestrated remediation workflows, reducing security incident response time by an estimated 60%.

Identity and Access Management

Coforge deployed AWS IAM roles and Amazon Cognito to enforce role-based access control and Multi-Factor Authentication, achieving 100% enforcement of least-privilege access across all services. AWS IAM Identity Center was integrated to streamline user authentication and simplify compliance reporting.

Compliance Automation and Operational Resilience

Coforge enabled AWS Config to automate compliance monitoring against SOC 2 and CIS benchmarks. Amazon Detective and VPC Flow Logs were configured to monitor network traffic for anomalies. AWS Backup and Amazon S3 lifecycle policies were implemented for data protection and disaster recovery, reducing Recovery Time Objectives by an estimated 50%.

Business Impact

  • The platform now scales automatically to meet workload demand, removing the manual intervention that had constrained growth and platform reliability.

  • Real-time threat detection via Security Hub, GuardDuty, and CloudTrail reduced security incident resolution time by an estimated 60%, with automated remediation workflows replacing manual response.

  • 100% least-privilege access enforcement across all services mitigated unauthorized access risk and simplified compliance reporting for financial regulatory requirements.

  • Automated compliance monitoring against SOC 2 and CIS benchmarks reduced manual audit preparation effort by an estimated 40%.

  • AWS Backup and disaster recovery configurations cut Recovery Time Objectives by an estimated 50%, ensuring high availability for investment advisory operations.

  • Deployment cycles accelerated by an estimated 50% through standardized CodePipeline and CloudFormation workflows, with security compliance maintained throughout.

The platform now meets the security, compliance, and scalability standards required by wealth management operations. From infrastructure modernization to identity management to compliance automation, Coforge delivered a complete re-engineering of the technology stack, underpinned by deep AWS expertise and a clear understanding of what regulated financial services platforms demand.
