A leading cloud-based SaaS provider for the hospitality industry, powering hotel operations across thousands of properties worldwide, needed to accelerate the delivery of API integrations through its third-party connectivity product. The platform supported over 140 third-party integrations and required a scalable, secure solution for API exposure and sandbox environments that could keep pace with growing demand from data consumers. They engaged Coforge to design and implement a cloud-native solution on AWS.

The Challenge

The SaaS platform was powering hotel operations at scale. The speed and reliability of API integrations directly affected the value delivered to properties and third-party partners. The organization's ability to onboard new data consumers and maintain its integration ecosystem was constrained by the pace at which APIs could be built, tested, and deployed.

Delivering API integrations through the third-party connectivity product required a scalable, secure mechanism for exposing APIs and creating sandbox environments for data consumer self-certification. The existing approach could not support this at the required speed or scale.

Infrastructure changes across development, QA, and production environments were handled manually, consuming significant engineering effort and introducing inconsistency across environments. The organization needed an Infrastructure as Code approach that would reduce provisioning overhead and enable higher deployment frequency without increasing operational risk.

Our Approach

Coforge designed and implemented a cloud-native API platform on AWS, replacing manual infrastructure processes with automated, scalable, and secure delivery capabilities.

API Exposure via Amazon API Gateway

Coforge enabled rapid API endpoint exposure using Amazon API Gateway with OpenAPI specifications, giving the organization a scalable mechanism for onboarding new third-party data consumers. API Gateway's built-in scalability handled large volumes of requests without performance degradation, supporting the organization's growing integration ecosystem.

Serverless Compute and Asynchronous Processing

Coforge deployed AWS Lambda to provide serverless compute for APIs, removing the need to provision and manage traditional servers. Amazon SQS was integrated to handle requests asynchronously, improving service resiliency and load management for high-traffic endpoints. Amazon Kinesis and DynamoDB were introduced in new applications to improve the performance and scalability of core platform systems.

Identity, Access, and Sandbox Management

Coforge deployed AWS Cognito to manage API authentication and authorization, isolating user access for each API and sandbox environment. This simplified user management for support teams and ensured secure, consistent access control across the entire API ecosystem and third-party self-certification workflow.

Infrastructure as Code with AWS CloudFormation

Coforge implemented AWS CloudFormation to manage all AWS infrastructure across development, QA, load testing, pre-production, and production environments.

Business Impact

  • API deployment time reduced by an estimated 60%, enabling the organization to launch new integrations in weeks rather than months.
  • The platform now handles an estimated 3x more concurrent third-party connections, supporting the growth of the integration ecosystem without performance degradation.
  • Infrastructure as Code via AWS CloudFormation reduced manual provisioning effort by an estimated 70%, with consistent deployments across all environments replacing error-prone manual processes.
  • Continuous engineering efforts cut feature release cycles by an estimated 50%, accelerating the delivery of new capabilities to hotel customers and third-party partners.
  • AWS Cognito simplified vendor access management and isolation across the API ecosystem, reducing complexity for support teams while improving security.
  • Amazon SQS asynchronous processing improved API service resiliency, maintaining consistent response times under heavy load.

The organization now operates a scalable, secure, cloud-native API platform that supports the growing demands of its hospitality SaaS ecosystem. Coforge delivered a complete modernization of the integration delivery capability on AWS, enabling API exposure, infrastructure automation, and increased release velocity.
